2 months ago, I submitted two of my photos for a competition organized by local newspaper, Bradford’s Telegraph & Argus. The main objective for this competition is to bring out the best of Bradford and it’s surrounding district.
Before I submit the photos, I choose the best 6 photos for my colleagues to pick, and most of them love the following two. They’ve called me amateur photographer after that, one of them even asked me to shoot a recently open mosque for his promotion purpose, which I did, the results were not as good as I wanted, but I’m glad he is happy though.
I am flattered with this “amateur photographer” title, but I know there are still a hell lot more to learn in photography, however, I take that as encouragement.
These two are most favored.

The building with the chimney visible to just about anywhere in Bradford is Lister Mills,. It was the largest silk factory in the world. If you are interested, you might want to read a bit more of Lister Mills in wikepedia, which has more than 130 years of history.
I think many of them like it because of the blue sky and cloud, which you won’t normally have in typical English weather. I am now currently living in this beautiful mill, not in the chimney of course!

The second one is Cartwright Hall in Lister Park, just about 5 minutes walk from where I live, a beautiful park I visit almost every week. My dog loves the park! I used the bushes as a natural frame, however, due to my incompetent in Photoshop, I couldn’t bring out the desired result.
You can view all the entries for the competition, namely Beautiful Bradford.
One of the competition rules is the photo has to be in landscape mode, where all mine are in portrait mode. I don’t think I stand a chance to win it. Anyway, it is just for fun, will put more effort for next competition.

Thank you kaka and yenjai, critiques are welcome as well as compliments
kaka, I’ve just deleted the 2 lines in wp-config.php
define(’DBCHARSET’, ‘utf8′);
define(’DBCOLLATE’, ”);
I didn’t fix the problem, the people in wordpress forum did. I think it is because it overwritten the database character setting.
